Week of the Young Child 2007:

Building Better Futures for All Children

Week of the Young Child is April 22-28, 2007!

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrates Week of the Young Child, April 22-28, 2007, to recognize the needs of young children and thank teachers and other adults who work to build better futures for all children. Week of the Young Child is celebrated across the country by hundreds of local organizations working to improve opportunities for all young children.

“Early learning experiences are crucial to young children’s growth and development,” said Mark Ginsberg, Ph.D., NAEYC Executive Director. “Week of the Young Child is an opportunity for all of us to recognize the importance of the early years, and work together to ensure all children have safe care and quality learning experiences that will help them succeed in school and beyond.”
Week of the Young Child events are opportunities for early childhood programs, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children. Week of the Young Child events are held to honor children across the country.

Young children and their families depend on quality education and care, which help children get a great start, and bring lasting benefits for our society as a whole. Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the people, programs and policies that are helping to build better futures for all children.
We will talk about this more as the date approaches, but mark it on your calendar...
